Presidents Report 2024

To the member clubs and all those who curl in Regina,

Another year of curling has come and gone. Curl Regina was successful in applying, accepting, and hosting the 2024 Montana’s Brier at the Brandt center. This annual event was a success in Regina. While Team Gushue went on to win the Brier, team Saskatchewan consisting of Team McEwen (Mike McEwen, Colton Flasch, Kevin Marsh, and Dan Marsh) played hard in the final. The attendance of fans was great to see and were treated to great curling throughout the event.

Curl Regina is happy to see that the sport of curling members at the membership clubs have increased to begin the 2024/25 season. Both clubs are open to finding ways to accommodate new and existing curlers.

We have our dedicated team of Larisa and Danita who work endlessly to support and grow our Youth curling, who offer their programs in a safe and welcoming environment. Your dedication to grow the sport is appreciated and does not go unnoticed.

In addition, Curl Regina is a member-driven organization committed to the development of curling at all levels within Regina and area through programs and facilities dedicated to sport and recreation. Curl Regina board and the member clubs are looking to grow the sport of curling, develop strategies for curling instructors, and enhance programs for youth and adults in Regina and area. As a result, Curl Regina has hired Curling Coordinator Noah Flaman.

In closing, I would like to thank all the board members on Curl Regina for your time and dedication. I look forward to this upcoming year and progress in program enhancements with youth and adults. Our biggest challenge, always working to keep everyone safe, putting the safety of our members as priority, and giving everyone an opportunity to compete in a season. We can now see the curling season is well underway, with tasks of growing our sport, and planning world class events.

Respectfully submitted

Darwin Bender
